TGI ?

Last night Jason, Brandon, and Dwayne went to a photography users group, I'm sure he'll blog about that soon.... Katie and I decided to head to TGI Friday's in sterling to wait for the boys. I got a glass of Yellow Tail Shiraz... normally beer would be a good choice at friday's, but you can't really mess up yellow tail, so i got a glass. It came tasting as expected, which was good. Then I got the fried mac and cheese balls. Now, let me explain..

As mentioned previously, Jason and I have been on a diet since late August. We have been eating salads at every meal and all around being healthy. Exactly 1 week after starting the diet, friday's came out with fried mac & cheese balls. On thursday nights when we hit the movies in the fall, we always met frank at friday's i would look longingly at the fried M&C balls on the menu and settle with no pre-movie snack. so, to make a long story short, i have really wanted to try them for a long time. so, last night i decided to get them.

They arrived with a very artistic plating. There were about 8 golf ball sized balls on a long white plate with an onion cheese drizzled over them. I couldn't wait to dig in. I cut one in half, the cheese oozed out and i could see the noodles peaking out. I bit in and tasted the ooey gooey cheese and....... gross breading. The balls are basically mozzarella stick breading stuffed with 3 noodles of mac & cheese. I was so disappointed that I didn't eat anymore. Instead, I got the zen pot stickers from the "healthy" menu. (which btw notes on the menu that all items have approximately 500 calories and 10g fat. how is that healthy? ok, ok, it is friday's afterall)

anyway, i definitely wouldn't recommend the fried mac & cheese balls. frank swears by the entree of "grown-up mac & cheese" but i prefer the zen pot stickers.
