Saturday
Saturday started our pretty good, i raced to my frost bitten honey waiting in line at the convention center to bring him hot coffee and his hat at 8am, then headed back to the hotel. I had ordered breakfast delivery for 9:30-10am, so I had a while to kill. I headed to the "Sweat Fitness Center". It was really nice, there were a few people already running on treadmills and lifting weights, but there was a treadmill left for me, so I hopped on. The treadmill was extra nice and squishy and I had my own tv. So, I ran for a while, stretched, and headed back up to my room in time to get my delicious breakfast delivery of bran flakes and a pot of coffee.
Next, I had to to a bit more work... work always calls right? After finishing up, I headed out to Bumble and Bumble's uptown salon. I had an appointment at 1pm to get my hair cut. B&B is a jam packed salon with a cafe inside and concrete walls. It's pretty trendy like everything else here. I was taken to a back area to change out of my shirts and into a robe. Then, II waited in the cafe until my stylist got me. She took me to get a shampoo and shoulder massage, then back to her station to cut my hair. She took a razor to my hair and didn't use scissors once. She told me about the levels of training they have to go through to be a B&B stylist and I was feeling pretty confident my hair would be awesome. For one particular class, she said that she had it every Monday and she had to bring three models to every class and cut their hair in front of the professor. She said that she would be out at union station trying to get recruits. That sounded hard enough, my hair was a piece of cake for her. Anyway, she suggested a bit of a choppier cut to let my hair move more freely, hence the use of the razor. I have to say, it came out amazing. I liked it so much that I didn't want to put a hat on in the 10 degree weather after leaving the salon!
Next I walked the correct way down 5th avenue and saw all the amazing shops, the NBC observation deck, the apple store, and lots of rich people. I even saw an Aston Martin parked on the street, right next to a hot dog vendor. Jason wouldn't have approved...
I did a little shopping and then headed back to the hotel to get a couple of rolls from Blue Fin, a restaurant in our hotel. I got two rolls that cost $25 total. Let me tell you, first I should have checked the prices, next, how can sushi cost $25 for two rolls?? I got a spicy crab roll, which was fresh crab, less spicy than normal mayo, and green peppers, and it was rolled in tempura flakes. It was quite delicious, but not worth whatever I paid for it. I also got a california roll, which was fresh crab (not fake, real), avocado, and mango. They even serve it with a side of mango sauce. It was ok, but I like more traditional california rolls with masago. The blue fin bar is pretty cool, so, if you are in Times Square and need a place to sit down, check out the bar, but beware of the prices on the sushi.
Tonight we're headed to SoHo...
