Lunch by the Old Condo
We went to OYA last night for another delicious dinner. This time I tried the pekin crepes and had another spicy crunchy salmon roll and glass of Sawtooth Syrah from Idaho. The kitchen was really behind, so we got a few bowls of edamame on the house. It was good, but without enough salt. The pekin crepes were also good, but i prefer the tempura tofu from last time. The sushi was awesome as always and jason got a Tuna Tempura Roll with 7-pepper sauce which was incredible. I highly recommend getting it.
Today for lunch we decided to go out as well. We were looking for something relatively healthy, but lunch-like, so we decided to try Cafe Sano. It is over in South Lakes Shopping center, right across the street from our old condo. The shopping center has gotten way cooler since we left. The safeway was completely redone, new restaurants popped up, and there is an ABC store where the blockbuster used to be!
Anyway, Cafe Sano is "fast. fresh. mediterranean." It is cafeteria style, however they bring you hot foods, similar to how la madeleine does it. They have a variety of salads, wraps, pizzas, kabobs, and paninis. I decided to try the dip sampler and a salad. I chose hummus and Tzatziki in the sampler, which came with hot, fresh, pita wedges. My salad was mixed greens, green beans, cherry tomatoes and house dressing. The house dressing was good with a bit of a kick. The Tzatziki was one of the best I've had around here and will definitely go back for more.
Jason got a house salad and marinated chicken salad with spinach, caramelized onions, and olives. The pizza was really good, but big for 1 person. Lina tried the chicken kabob which came with a skewer of vegetables, rice, salad, and side of tzatziki. Kevin had the caesar salad with chicken and said it was just okay.
The restaurant overlooks Lake Thoreau, which was completely frozen over today and a bunch of kids were throwing ice and snowballs onto it. There are a bunch of booths and tables and it is very bright and clean. We all really liked it and will definitely go back.
