Things that happened on my run today

1. I got surrounded by Mormons while waiting for the crosswalk
2. I got surrounded by cops, in their cars, on the horse path
3. I got passed by a man on a unicycle

This is not multiple choice, all these really happened to me today.

Restaurant Reviews

Looks like I haven't been updating my blog since... well... Christmas. Anyway, here's two new reviews I posted on yelp today:

Blue Duck Tavern
Atmosphere: A
Bar: B+ (small, but very friendly with a good selection)
Service: A
Food: A

Synopsis: I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back. I just re-read the menu and it looks like some things change with the seasons, so I'm excited to try whatever they think up next. (Full review here)

Wildfire
Atmosphere: B+
Bar: B+
Service: F
Food: C-

Synopsis: Overall, I was very disappointed with the service and food quality. Perhaps the food would have come out better if we all got steak (since it's a steakhouse afterall), but while in the bar I saw a ton of seafood flying out to diners, which is why many of us tried it. The server could have stopped by to tell us the kitchen was backed up, but instead we rarely saw him, except while he was massaging another server while she was folding napkins. The restaurant has separate folks for busing tables, filling water, serving, etc. I'm unsure then, why our water glasses were never refilled without asking and what kept our server so busy that we never saw him. I'm pretty sure there won't be a next time for me to find out. (Full review here)

Christmas Tree!

Img 1140

This year I couldn't decide between a fake tree and a real tree. On one hand cutting down a tree every year is not very environmentally friendly, however the trees are renewable and definitely replanted at the tree farm they came from. And really, if we don't buy one of those trees that was cut what do they do with them? So, we decided to get a live tree for another year! Here it is in all its decorated glory! We settled on a Frasier fir and we carted it home on top of jason's bmw. That was awesome, but unfortunately we (I) forgot to take a picture, so you'll have to take our word for it.

snow story

I know everyone has their own story about the snow today, so here's mine. Jason and I left home at 7:30 to go to the office because I had a 10am meeting. We heard about the multiple accidents on the toll road and that it was a parking lot, so we jumped on the back roads. That was not a good decision. We drove for 1 hour and 15 minutes before turning around. We had only made it 5 miles from home. It was difficult to turn around, because as each minute passes, you sort of think that maybe that will be the minute that the traffic clears up, but it didn't... minute after minute. Anyway, we turned around and it took us about a half hour to get home, so that we could sit on the couch and work. Working at home sure beats sitting in a parking lot. Of course, we still had to go into the office around noon and work until the traffic piled back up after 5, but it was a million times better than the morning.

Here's a pic I took at 10:30 to send to my co-workers who didn't believe it was snowing since I work down in Pentagon City.

Half Marathon duds from Nike

I got my cool technical, cotton-feeling t-shirt and keychain designed by tiffany's today. Very cool! Next year's half marathon is already scheduled for next October, so get ready and you can get cool stuff too!

you look like a girl from Abercrombie & Fitch

Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year, was my first experience working retail. My sister recently got promoted to manager and didn't have enough help for the busy holiday shopping day, so we went in to give her a helping hand. Here I am at 6am getting ready for the day!
