[insert name here] cd sweepstakes

here is the preface:
hoover, lisa, stephanie, and I have decided that another compilation disk should be created. in the same likeness of the infamous WTW (white trash wednesday) cd created many years back. the major differences? WTW is early 90's rock (e.g. Poison, Motley Crue, Firehouse, etc.), while the still untitled 2nd disk will be late 90's (e.g.. Bush, seven Mary three, etc.).
this is what i ask of you:
1. i need help coming up with this track list. i am not going to provide my list hoping that its absence will not steer you in any particular direction. just drop ideas in the comments, as many or as few as you can. if i use your song, you get a copy of the disk!!!
2. i need a name for said masterpiece. something cleaver. i use your title, you get a copy!!!
3. **bonus** if you can correctly identify the album cover at the top of this post you will receive a copy of the completed disk!!! hoover excluded on this one due to the fact that i know he has seen it in the last 2 days.
legal disclaimer:
limit one prize per person. i do not have to know you, but you do need to provide contact info to me to send you the copy. offer ends when i dont want to do it anymore. i reserve the rights to change the rules on a whim.

Posted by: marcus | March 24, 2006 9:34 AM

it's better than seven mary three tho
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 9:34 AM
i am not sure the "grunge" is the ere i am looking for here. but i will make that executive decision later. keep them coming

The cd cover in the picture is Live - mental jewelry

ok - we have the mistry albumn identified, some song options, we just need a name for the disk.
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 10:05 AM
you should call it:
the mistry cleaver albumn
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 10:11 AM
Golf Club Possee: GCP? warrenton kids get it!
Posted by: marcus | March 24, 2006 10:11 AM
that would fit the time frame of the songs. GCP 4 Life
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 10:29 AM
you could make it an iMix, go to iTunes, open the music store and click iMix
too bad you don't get a cut...greedy bastards
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 10:51 AM
You can get a cut, sign up to be an iTunes affilate through LinkShare. A quick google search would have told you that.
Should the choices be mainstream or obscure? While I think lithium is a great track, I would go more with Come As You Are.
Is it a grunge only disc? How about Korn - Blind?
Anyway, my generic list follows:
Alice in Chains: Rooster
SilverChair: Tomorrow
Soul Asylu: Runaway Train
Toadies: Possum Kingdom
Weezer: Undone
STP: Interstate Love Song
Ben Folds Five: Brick
Green Day: Longview
Temple of the Dog: Hunger Strike
Spin Doctors: Jimmie Olson's Blues
Semisonic: Fascinating New Thing
I got more but I have to get some work done.

"You can get a cut, sign up to be an iTunes affilate through LinkShare. A quick google search would have told you that."
well a quick read of the comments would have told you he's not really looking for grunge ;)
you miss me...
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 11:32 AM
nice pull on Temple of the Dog: Hunger Strike that may have earned you a autographed cd. by me of course.
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 11:38 AM
i re-read the comments, i realized although not excluded, the inclusion of grunge would be an executive decision.
what about:
Presidents of The United State of America :: Lump
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 11:51 AM
psssh.. Lump?!? Peaches is so much a better track.
How about:
Oasis: Wonderwall
The La's: There she goes
Chumbawamba: Tubthumper (1997)
Sugar Ray: Fly (1997)
OMC: How Bizarre (1996)
Smashing Pumpkins: Cherub Rock
Gin Blossoms: Hey Jealousy
Blues Traveler: Hook
okay.. after next meeting more.

trying we are getting bop-y. definates so far:
Bush: Glycerine
Live: ??
Temple of the Dog: Hunger Strike
Pearl Jam: ??
a bit edgier...
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 12:14 PM
glycerine is such a chick song...i say go with everything zen or machinehead
live :: selling the drama
pearl jam :: Go
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 12:33 PM
winner with live :: selling the drama
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 12:42 PM
bop-y? WTF does that mean?
"Pearl Jam: Ederly Woman behind the counter in a small town" is where it's at.
or
Pearl Jam: Bugs
Posted by: tucker | March 24, 2006 1:36 PM
winner with Pearl Jam: Ederly Woman behind the counter in a small town.
bop-y is like Chumbawamba, Sugar Ray, OMC
more pop than rock IMO

You could also include some of my harder hits like:
Sepultura: Jasco
or maybe something like Spacehog: In the meantime
Afghan Wigs: Step into the light

hmm.. dunno how the top part of that comment was still in the comment box..
haha. i typed box.
twice.
Posted by: tucker | March 24, 2006 1:46 PM
Oh..
Radiohead: Fake plastic trees.
can't believe i just thought of that one..
Oh yeah..
Metallica: Whereever I may roam (or Enter Sandman both were great IMHO).
Posted by: tucker | March 24, 2006 1:50 PM
i totally slept on Metalica!! Good catch...
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:14 PM
Sublime: Wrong Way (or almost any song off of the "Sublime" cd)
Counting Crows: Hanginaround
maybe some smashing pumpkins or dave matthews band (so much to say?)
oh...and Chumbawamba is ghey
Posted by: Brandon #2 | March 24, 2006 2:18 PM
I already listed Smashing Pumpkins.
Counting Crows fits the no bop-y comment that #1 has made.
Posted by: tucker | March 24, 2006 2:20 PM
"bop-y is like Chumbawamba, Sugar Ray, OMC"
you think counting crows fits in with those? I disagree.
Posted by: Brandon #2 | March 24, 2006 2:23 PM
executive decision:
Counting Crows:: "Big Yellow Taxi", "Hangin Around" = Bop-y
"Mr. Jones" could be argued either way...
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:28 PM
counting crows...more like counting hoes. get it, hoes, because it's girlie music...
get it?
chumbawamba is thuper brokeback
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 2:30 PM
big yellow taxi was not released late 90s and it's a cover.
Mr. (BT)Jones was released in 1993...which isn't late 90s. I guess counting crows is out.
Posted by: Brandon #2 | March 24, 2006 2:35 PM
"winner with Pearl Jam: Ederly Woman behind the counter in a small town."
when you make my copy, please omit that song. do you want this cd to be fun or not? i mean...it's on ok song, nothing special and a bit low key for 90s ROCK disc.
i say ditch the elderly bag and pick a PJ song with a pulse.
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 2:36 PM
if you do want a lifeless PJ song on the disc, i suggest Yellow Ledbetter over that Elderly Slut
please consider something more upbeat tho. Go, Even Flow, Animal, Why Go, Spin the Black Circle....c'mon there is better out there for this disc
Posted by: daily dwayne | March 24, 2006 2:39 PM
So i suppose Bush:Glycerine, Live:Lightning Crashes, RHCP:Under the Bridge, Alice n Chains:Rooster, Filter:Picture are all out due to low tempo?
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:41 PM
Metallica:ONE will likely kick it off while PJ:Yellow Ledbetter (Live version) will most likely conclude the mystical, musical journey of the late 90's
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:43 PM
This disc is becoming like Hoover, all woman.
I just did realize that you said late '90s and not early 90's like I've been trying to stick with.
Late '90s is all pop-rock. Grunge died when Cobain did and as did that genre of music. 1995-1996 became the start of the Alternative movement (which generally was mainstream and not very alternative). DMB was listed as alternative which is just fucking retarded.
Posted by: tucker | March 24, 2006 2:48 PM
i was thinking more of the music during your jr/sr. year of highschool (95/96) and freshman yr of college (97). that era. for Brandon#2 that would be more in the Limp Bizkit time frame. ah kids...
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:52 PM
but try not to get too wrapped up in the logistics of it all. i think everyone understands what we are trying to achieve here.
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 2:54 PM
Lomie chimed in via email with Candlebox:Far Behind

from kim
"Mine are a little girly --hope not girly for 'rock'!
(u know I don't know how to use that blog thing!)
Little miss can't be wrong - spin doctors
Californication - chili peppers"

Primitive Radio Gods: Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand
Posted by: ice cold | March 24, 2006 3:07 PM
OK, so i be like Ice and take it on teh chin for this one, but some must haves,
All about the benjamin's - puffy/foo fighters
and the anti-rock song
Juicy - Notorius BIG
you can't have a ninties CD with out Juicy. and if we are talking W-ton songs for our era,
What Would You Say - Dave (over it but essential for a true rundown of us
Posted by: the real big b | March 27, 2006 9:02 PM
this cd must have at the very least 1 rage song
