puff puff

is it possible that it has become more "cool" to be a non-smoker than a smoker nowadays?

i think so. and so, just as i jumped on the smoking train to be cool back in the day, i am jumping off to be cool now. in all seriousness though, i have tried in the past and succeeded (if you can succeed in quitting more than once?), quitting for a couple months at a time. one major difference though, i still chewed snuff back then. this time i am going to attempt to cut all ties to nicotine. that being said, i am laying down some ground rules for myself here, in hopes that you all will help enforce them.

1. no cigarettes at all
2. no dip as a replacement for cigarettes*
3. cigars are ok as long as there is no inhalation

* i am allowing myself to dip on occasion, but not when a smoking urge arises.

examples of acceptable dip occasions: (cutting wood, hunting/fishing, working on trucks, shooting bows, building anything)

examples of non-acceptable dip occasions: (driving, watching TV, work, in a bar, any non redneck social occasion)

it is coming up on 2 weeks since i stopped. in those 2 weeks i have had a total of 3 puffs on a cigarette (all 3 puffs were consecutive and at the motley crue concert), and one pinch of snuff (cutting wood). i really dont miss it too much though. i have some cravings, and really bad headaches for awhile, but now i am just maintaining.

lets see how long i last with the cool crowd.
